CHRISTMAS IS FOR EVERYONE

After my last blog regarding the mean-spirited Christmas "poem" by some mean "Christians", I decided to write a poem. It is at least composed in good humor, and contains factual information.


‘Twas every year at Christmas
And what do you see
Too many folks saying “It’s all about me”
“This time is for Christians” is what they will shout
Not caring a bit, what’s is all about

It’s about a time for others as well
But they assume those folks bent for hell
They don’t want others to share the same season
Even if others have their own reason

They send nasty emails, most are a lie
I don’t think Christ would approve
He was a such a nice guy
He was about kindness – they should give it a try

They have their own version of what is to be
And admit their fear of ad-ver-sity
They don’t care a bit about what others feel
They’re too busy trying to get the best deal

What is wrong with people these days?
For many, it’s though they live in a haze
They lie and say you can’t have a prayer
Of these people, I say you need to beware

They blame others throughout our great land,
That Christians aren’t praying or taking a stand
They claim “the PC police” have taken all away
Well, they didn’t keep me from praying today

The stores promote Ramadan and Kwanzaa, they say
I live in Alabama – that will be the day!
Why aren’t these people more loving and giving?
It seems they’d rather be RIGHT than happy, [or living]

We are to believe that in D.C. there’s no prayer,
But once again they lie, it’s always been there
Our rulers begin each session by saying,
“let us rotate by faiths, to lead in the praying”

Your faith shouldn’t be “up for the taking”
Unless Christianity is what you are faking
If you think that Christ is happy with you,
It’s not really his birthday; you’re belated, past-due

So if it’s “the spirit” of Christ you feel is the season
Stop being so mean, listen to reason
Don’t make it sound as if all Christians are foolish,
Christ was inclusive, from Muslims to Jewish

So I say, to all in this land,
That I am a Christian – just not your brand
So I will speak for the rest of us Christians, no ifs, ands or buts,
I’m sorry to say; that you people are nuts.

*Enjoy your season, whatever your reason.
